Accessibility
Last updated: October 31, 2026
We want every child and every parent to be able to enjoy Mazalchik. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across the website and the kids' app. We're a small team in beta, so we're not all the way there yet. Here's where we stand.
What we've done
- Semantic page structure with proper headings, landmarks and page language.
- Full keyboard navigation, a "Skip to content" link and clearly visible focus outlines.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and buttons, and labels on every form field.
- Color contrast checked on text and buttons, and information that doesn't rely on color alone in the parent dashboard.
- Respect for your device's "reduce motion" setting: decorative animations are turned off.
- A read-aloud button in stories that uses your device's built-in voice, on devices that have one.
- Text that can be enlarged with browser zoom up to 200% without losing content.
- Charts in the Parent dashboard come with a table view.
Known limitations
- Story illustrations are detailed artwork and don't have full text descriptions. The text on each page tells the whole story on its own.
- The music moments are built around visual notation (colored notes, tabs and rhythm grids) and listening. Every piece can be heard with one tap, but playing along requires an instrument.
- Some parts of the kids' app are still being tested with screen readers.
Tell us what's not working
If something on Mazalchik is hard to use for you or your child, we really want to know. Please email hello@mazalchik.com, and tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 business days and to fix problems as quickly as we can.
